34 Bubblegums and Candies..

I am back with another post & it’s about a novel that I read recently. Reading gives me strength, courage and nurtures my soul. But the sad part is I don’t implement the good things I read. Anyways the novel is “34 Bubblegums and Candies” by Preeti Shenoy, it’s a national bestseller. I don’t know Preeti personally but I like her as an artist & then as a novelist. I have read her another novel “Life Is What You Make It” a year ago and that time the novel helped me in some way because I was going through a low phase.

34 Bubblegums and Candies is a collection of 34 real life incidents, some are humorous, some are moving, some thought provoking but each one brings out the essence & flavour of a journey called Life.

The writer starts with a positive note saying ‘No matter how bad a day you had & no matter how hopeless the situation that you are in , things always change. Always. It’s just a matter of time’. Each morning when you open your eyes you are gifted 86,400 seconds to make a difference. And that itself is worth celebrating!

You may not like all the 34 short stories / incidents but somewhere you’ll surely feel connected. So I am sharing some beautiful lines from the novel.
  • If there is an underlying bond of deep love, no matter how terrible the misunderstanding, the relationship survives.
  • It is best to be like the duck that goes with the flow. To float along the river effortlessly, enjoying the gentle flow of the water and to treat barbs and insults thrown at you like the water that falls on a duck’s back.
  • There are so many positive & uplifting things in life. There is so much beauty, so much joy. Life is so short and so fleeting. Its entirely up to us enjoy each moment.
  • May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human and enough hope to make you happy.
  • The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can't go forward in life until you let go of your failures and heartaches.
  • Oh God, grant me the courage to accept things I cannot change, to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

Chapter 16: 'Stay or Stray', describes an amazing story about a couple who are about get divorced but they don’t when they realize each other's value.
Chapter 22: 'When Life tricks you', also shares a very motivating story that gives a lesson ~ When the hour is the darkest and trials are the greatest elevate yourself to another level.
Though its said that it is difficult to understand Women but I liked the way the writer has written in Chapter 27: What women want. Chapter 34: Live Love Laugh, has a list that everybody can follow.

The list is :
1) Laugh heartily
2) Have Sex Often
3) Spend time with children
4) Stay away from the grouches and the drains
5) If you love someone say it
6) Be content with your body
7) Enjoy the small things

And I loved the end note ‘How this book came to be’. Its so true ~ Laugh & others laugh with you; Cry & you cry alone. So live without regrets, the gift of Life is worth cherishing.

because... every raindrop is a HOPE

Ernest Hemingway once said : “There is no friend as loyal as a book” and now I understand how true it is. As a child I never liked novels, I was more interested in short story books but then gradually my urge to read made me like them. Though I don't have a huge library at home still whenever I get time I make a point to read some good ones. I always felt like writing my views about the novels I read but it just couldn't happen and this time I am writing it & its about a novel called because... every raindrop is a HOPE. Honestly, I bought this novel just because of its Title.!

because... every raindrop is a HOPE is written by Mansi Sharma and Sankalp Kohli. Its a nice story and towards the end of the novel you'll surely get a lesson but it wasn't one of the best book I have ever read. Anyways every writer has his or her own way and sometimes it doesn't connect well with all the readers. While reading the novel i came across some beautiful lines which I would like to share :

"As long as every dusk gives you a Dream,
As long as ever dawn gives you a Hope,
Remember, there is a bit of Life waiting between the two..!"

"When Life comes, Love comes..
 When Love comes, Hope comes..
But then when Love cannot go; Hope shouldn't..
And, as long as Hope is still there, Life still is.."

"They say Life is difficult, I say who wants it to be easy;

 They say hold things or else they would be gone, I say value them & say Sorry I was wrong;
 They say try not to hurt close to ur heart, I say ensure stupid things don't set them apart;
 They say always tell what they mean to you, I say do that before your time is through;
 They say people are either good or bad, I say all are good, circumstances make a few bad;
 They say be with the one who loves you, I say never let go the one who love you;
They say Life's all about moving on, I say.. Cum'on bring it on.!"

The novel tries to explain the difference between Self and Ego. It says self is what we actually are but ego is what we start thinking or believing we are because of the perception that world around us cultivates in us. Ego is necessary but when it goes beyond a limit it takes you far away from yourself and you no more realise what you are, you are ruined as a person. Chasing your dreams is right but losing your ownself in the want of your dreams is wrong.

The writer also throws a light on the 2 most misunderstood words : Love & Infatuation. Infatuation is always overrated while love is often underestimated. The truth is there is nothing love at first sight, never does it happen. Infatuation is when you don't know a person, yet you just are attracted to him/ her. Thus, it cannot be called an illusion however it may or may not turn into love.
At last I want to quote a line from the novel :

"Life doesn't end, as long as every raindrop is a  hope...."

'Manja'

First of all, a very Happy Women's Day to all the lovely ladies in the world. Hope there comes a time when Babies are not in killed in the mother's womb, Girls are not raped, Women are not beaten. Every female is encouraged, motivated, respected and loved. They live in the world happily without any fear.

All the men should make their partners feel special not just today but everyday. If you guys love your daughter, sister, lover, wife, mother, grandmother and want them to stay safe make sure you don't eve tease or support people who do such nuisance with a stranger coz that girl also belongs to a family that loves her.

Dear Gentlemen, Don't fall in your own eyes. Wake up. Stop playing with girls & their feelings. Treat each and every girl with respect and dignity. If you do so God will surely bless you.

And to all the beautiful girls & women who always manage everything from home to family to kids to office everything I just wanna say never lose hope. Keep walking confidently on the path of life and you will reach your destination soon.
The song I want to share today is "Manja" from the movie "Kai Po Che". Its a motivating song that makes you pledge that you won't ever give up. You will manage to get out of all the messy situations in life and achieve what you have always dreamed of.

'Who Says'

Its a Sunday today, only day to rest throughout the week but it goes so quickly that can't do anything about it. Anyways here is another post about the song I love to listen.

In your life there would have been a time when somebody told you that you are not beautiful or you are not perfect & so on maybe your friend, your boss, your relative, your cousin or anybody. But always remember you are no less. You are unique and you have your own special way to take things & work on them. I too have many such experiences when I was told that I am not good enough to work or live a happy life. But then God always sends an inspiration so that we don't stop anywhere and keep walking on the right track.

I came across this song : "Who Says" by Selena Gomez. It has amazing lyrics, nice music, very motivating. If you haven't heard of it, go listen now.

I wouldn't wanna be anybody else, hey
You made me insecure, to me I wasn't good enough
But who are you to judge
When you're a diamond in the rough
I'm sure you got some things
You'd like to change about yourself
But when it comes to me
I wouldn't want to be anybody else

I'm no beauty queen, I'm just beautiful me
You got every right to a beautiful life, come on
Who says, who says you're not perfect
Who says you're not worth it
Who says you're the only one that's hurting
Trust me that's the price of beauty
Who says you're not pretty
Who says you're not beautiful, who says?

It's such a funny thing
How nothing's funny when it's you
You tell 'em what you mean
But they keep whitin' out the the truth
It's like the work of art
That never get to see the light
Keep you beneath the stars
Won't let you touch the sky

I'm no beauty queen, I'm just beautiful me
You got every right to a beautiful life, come on
Who says, who says you're not perfect
Who says you're not worth it
Who says you're the only one that's hurting
Trust me that's the price of beauty
Who says you're not pretty
Who says you're not beautiful, who says?

Who says you're not star potential
Who says you're not presidential
Who says you can't be in movies
Listen to me, listen to me
Who says you don't pass the test
Who says you can't be the best
Who said, who said?
Would you tell me who said that, yeah
Who said

Who says, who says you're not perfect
Who says you're not worth it
Who says you're the only one that's hurting
Trust me that's the price of beauty
Who says you're not pretty
Who says you're not beautiful, who says?
Who says you're not perfect
Who says you're not worth it
Who says you're the only one that's hurting
Trust me that's the price of beauty
Who says you're not pretty
Who says you're not beautiful, who says?

'Nindiya ke Paar'

Its March 2 and I am back with another song. When we talk about early young life precisely below 25 yrs, it is not necessary to always relate it with Love or Relationships sometimes its beyond that. Its about Dreams that we see and we want them to get fulfilled. We try hard to achieve but Life has some other plans and we have to adjust ourselves to the change.

Music has been my best companion and the song Nindiya ke Paar by Uzair Jaswal is close to my heart. I like listening to it when I am sad specially.

According to a source on the web the song Nindiya ke Paar was written between 2009 and 2010 by Uzair Jaswal’s older brother, Yasir Jaswal. The two brothers worked out the song structure and main component parts together at a friends studio. The song title suggests a sense of escaping and going to the place beyond one’s dreams where one is alone in his/her world. Jaswal writes about a person who is treated very badly and no one listens to what he has to say. But when he sleeps and dreams, that’s the world he really lives in. He is the master of his own world and he feels he is treated well when he is here. This song is also fused with "Tere bina mera dil nahi lagda" by Nusrat fateh ali khan and Uzair Jaswal's another song "Tere bin nahi lage jiya" in Coke Studio Season 5's Episode 3.

'Goonja Sa Hai Koi Iktara'

Today is March 1, 2013 and I have thought of writing blog posts on my favorite songs. Music is that one thing that stays with me no matter what the situation is. I Love music & i guess it loves me back. Once I read a tweet on Twitter that said:
Depressed? Earphones In, Volume Up, Ignore the World.!
It is very true to a great extent. Though I love listening to soft music but sometimes it depends on my mood and situation.

So Song for today is Iktara (एकतारा) from the Bollywood movie 'Wake Up Sid' (2009). Music Director is Shanker, Ehsaan, Loy and Lyricist is Javed Akhtar.

You don't get Life a second time so live every moment happily

Life is such a wonderful ride. Sometimes you are so sad that you wanna leave everything & go away but sometimes you are so happy that you wish you could freeze the time. Yesterday was one of that day when my tears could stop because I was hurt and it was not the first time. Then I texted a friend to ask what should I do because I was so messed up that I could not think of any way. I read somewhere : "A lot of people end up unhappy because they make permanent decisions on temporary emotions."

So asking someone else was a better option. My friend replied : Take a deep breath & watch any movie you like. Though I din't want to because I was sad & unhappy still my friend insisted and I thought of giving it a try. I opened my laptop & all I could find was "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara", a hindi Bollywood movie released in 2011. The movie is about Life, it says : You don't Get Life a Second time so live every moment. And after watching it I felt better, I wasn't crying anymore and thanked my friend for this wonderful idea.

In the movie I loved the poetry that the character speaks in the background. The poems are written by lyricist Javed Akhtar. So I am sharing those poems here :

Poem 1:

Poem 3:  *My Favorite*
